About The Teacher
Hi! For those of you who don't already know me, I'm Robin Fillion and I'm going to be your child's preschool teacher for the next year. I've been very busy, both at home and at school, getting things ready!
Many of you are "repeat" families and know that when I'm not at school, I live at home in Bow with my husband, Rick ! My children are all grown up and married and I have 2 grandchildren, Liam (who is starting First Grade this year), and Aila (who is turning 1 on September 10th!) They live in Alexandria, VA and I try to visit them as often as I can! My son Robby and his wife Heather and their daughter live in Andover, Mass, and they are so busy I almost never see them! My youngest son Ryan and hIs wife Julia live on Long Beach Island, NJ. Ryan is a boat captain and does tons of deep sea fishing, both for work and pleasure.
When is hasn't been raining, I've been enjoying working in my garden, taking long walks, and we love to go to the beach whenever we can. I was very happy to see my parents this summer, first time since Christmas 2019 and I was also very happy to be able to fly to Alexandria in July instead of drive again-phew, that's a long trip!
I have been teaching at NBCS since 2000 (yup-this is my 22nd year here! ), and have made it my second home. I have come to love the community, the people, and especially my colleagues.
I completed my Master's degree in Special Education in 2004, and have continued to take a variety of courses to stay "fresh." I couldn't imagine myself teaching any other age than my preschoolers, and those of you who know me well, know that one of my greatest passions is working with families of children on the autism spectrum. I've taken quite a bit of coursework on Applied Behavioral Analysis and love working 1 on 1 with students as well as with the whole group. I'm excited and looking forward to a great year!
Robin
Mission For The Class
My mission for your children is as much for your family as it is for them. I hope that your entire family is excited about and invested in your child's first experience in school as am I. I look at your children as our baby birds that are learning the skills they need to be ready to try to fly out of the nest. We work very hard to: use our words, acknowledge how others feel, try new things, try again if we make mistakes, realize it's ok to make mistakes and feel oh so proud of our accomplishments! If your child leaves me in June with self confidence, compassion, and a love for learning, we have done our jobs and they will learn to fly and be excited to try their wings.
