Good afternoon! I planned to do this in the morning but my flight was delayed and I got to go to Liam's swim class instead! Priorities!
But I'm back home and here we go into the last 2 months of school-i can't believe we're here! As we leave the month of April, apparently we're not leaving the rain quite yet-we'll keep talking about ducks and mud and read "One Duck Stuck" in the morning class. We'll be sorting farm animals, making duck headbands and counting with ducks! After tomorrow, it looks like we'll get lots of outside time this week! Hurray!
In the afternoon class, we wish Orianna a happy 5th birthday over vacation (4/21) and also to Darren on Wednesday! We'll be reading "The Tiny Seed" this week and learning about seeds, plants, flowere, etc. We're also going to be really practicing letter ID with games, puzzles, clip cards, magnetic letters, all kinds of hands on activities!
I hope everyone had a relaxing, restful vacation and I hope we've left the yucky sicknesses behind! Enjoy the rest of the day and have a great week!

Good morning! What a terrible, icy, freezing, yucky morning it is! Yikes! So, I am hoping that everyone found their child's progress report/graded IEP in the bottom of the backpack and has a chance to review it! I am happy to meet with anyone who has any questions or concerns. At the end of this quarter I will use the skills checklist report card again.
Wow! We have learned all the colors, and the afternoon class has practiced all the letters and all numbers to 10! I guess it's getting close to the end of the year.
This week we will continue our rain, mud and rainbow activities! Have you seen our brown, muddy playdoh? It's very cool and we've been having so much fun exploring putting snakes, frogs, salamanders, and turtles in it. So fun! We've also been having a great time playing in the water table as well! We'll have 1 more week of water inside!
The afternoon class had a great Social Thinking lesson this week about keeping our "Whole Body in the Group"! We sure need practice with that one! We've been talking about keeping all parts of our body in the group: our eyes, ears, arms, legs, etc.
We 'published" a class book about rainy days, and it will begin circulating this week. We're also making our own books about weather, and have talked a lot about titles, authors and illustrators.
Thanks again to Sean's family for the sand and sand toys--we were VERY excited to play in the sandbox for a minute! lol! Thanks to everyone who supplied us with clorox wipes, and now we could just use some tissues to get us through the rest of the year-thanks in advance!
Stay warm and drive safely today and let's all have a great week-then on to vacation!

Good morning! Hurray for no snow today! We had so much fun with all of our umbrella activities this week and we will continue in the morning class with some rain and umbrella counting. We're working very hard to remember to touch each item that we count and also to sequence numerals from 1-10.
The morning class has also been working so hard to practice pronouns and also some prepositions such as: in/out, on/off, etc. We're expanding our sentence length and really developing our language! It's exciting to hear.
Tomorrow is "A Day" in the afternoon-our last letter! Moving forward we're going to be doing lots and lots of letter review. We'll be practicing sounds, and making letters with a variety of materials, and even beginning to match upper to lower case letters!
We began our "!0" book last week and we will begin practicing making our numerals 1-10!
As the 4 yr olds begin to explore the concepts of print, we've been talking about titles and authors. We're "publishing" our own weather books and the titles are pretty hilarious! It's a work in progress! Our coloring has improved tremendously and we're beginning to become less fatigued during coloring or tracing activities.
Thursday is Purple Day for both classes-that's the last color! Yikes! Both classes have colors pretty much mastered-that's great!
Grades closed this week, and I am frantically working on progress reports this weekend. This quarter will be a narrative like you received in November and in June I will update the skills checklist. If they don't get out on Thursday the 12th, they will definitely be ready on Monday the 16th. Graded IEP's will go home as well, and as I always say, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out and we can schedule a conference.
Finally, I'm going to say this with extreme caution: I don't think we'll be needing snowsuits any more-fingers crossed! However, we will still be going outside on our designated days, and it's still pretty cold in the mornings. Please be sure your child has appropriate outerwear! thanks
Have a great day and a great week!
Robin
p.s. thank you soooo much to Sean's family for the donation of sandbox sand. Hopefully after this weekend, the sand box will be dried out and we can add the fresh sand! The children will be so excited!
We could use some tissues and clorox wipes if anyone has extras! thanks

Good morning! Happy Easter! Happy April
Fool's Day, etc.!
I hope no one missed their child's colored egg on Thursday-ewww! THat would be bad!
What a special visit we had in the morning class on Wednesday from Officer Ryan McLean. He visited with us and we showed him our projects before he read us a super cute Easter story.
The afternoon class had a super fun Easter egg hunt on Thursday. I was very worried we wouldn't be able to do it outside, but we did! Yeah!
Wow! April already! We'll be talking about April showers and all things rain and mud this week! We'll be decorating umbrellas, painting, counting and sequencing numbers.
In the morning class, it is time to start emphasizing staying with a task until completion. I will be providing the children with activities that they know how to do (such as clothespin cards, sorting, etc.) and will be cueing them with as few verbal prompts as possible. I'm looking for them to be able to continue a task independently, once they get started, rather than walking away.
In both classes, I'm starting to pull back on the verbal prompts and starting to wait for the children to complete a direction. This is great practice at home as well. Remember your mother asking, "how many times do I have to tell you to.....?" Well, the truth is, the more we tell, the longer they'll wait to do it. I am starting to ask "what was your direction?" and I'm also starting to give a direction, and then get eye contact and look expectantly until the child moves toward the required task. We will need to be pretty independent in Kindergarten, soooooo we need to start practicing.
Tomorrow is "Y Day" in the afternoon class and we will also be continuing our weather activities.
Enjoy the day and have a great week!

I hope everyone is shoveled or plowed out and I also hope this all starts to melt very soon! Anyway, I mostly hope for a full week of school this week. It's been very hard on the kids to get into a routine and remember what they're supposed to be doing-ok, the teachers as well!
Believe it or not, we're going to start some Easter fun this week! We'll still be exploring "bears" in the morning class, but will add a few bunnies to the mix! We never got to do yoga with "Brown Bear" so hopefully we'll be doing that this Wednesday morning!
The afternoon class continues to talk about weather adn have fun dressing weather bear. Our weather patterns on the bulletin board are awesome! We'll be working on making "W"-very trick with all those diagonal lines and we'll be finishing up our #9 books.
I'm really excited about "World Down's Syndrome Awareness Day" on Wednesday--we're all going to wear funky socks to help spread awareness and support!
Enjoy the sunny Sunday and let's keep our fingers crossed for a full, weather-free week!
