Sunday Nov. 26th-good morning! I hope everyone has had a wonderful, peaceful break and is ready to get back at it for the next 4 weeks! Yikes! The afternoon children are in for a surprise when they sign in tomorrow! Shhhhh-we're going to start learning about our last names! That should be exciting and tricky! We will be learning about "J" and "5" this week. "J" starts in the middle just like "T" and "I". We have a big job ahead of us to make paper chains wwith 25 links so we can count down to the BIG DAY!!! The morning class will continue with lots and lots of counting, cutting and color and shape review this week. We'll be building "Mat Man" together and on our own and we'll be working so very hard on buttons, snaps, zippers, etc., both with our "tag bags" and also with some "dressing vests." We're all working hard on getting our jackets on and some of us are even attempting to start our own zippers! This is super exciting! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and the leftovers! Have a great week! Robin
Sunday November 19th-good morning!Rain, rain go away! So, progress reports and graded IEP's will DEFINITELY go home tomorrow! Sorry for the delay-being out for that conference really slowed me down, but they're all ready now! phew! As many of you already know, the evacutation drill was cancelled (postponed?)--I'll be sure to let you knoow if it is re-scheduled. Tomorrow is BROWN DAY for both classes--we've been making lots of BROWN turkeys! So much fun! This is a very short week--remember, there is no school on Wednesday for the afternoon class, and no one has school Thursday or Friday. On Wednesday--NBCS is having a school-wide pep rally in the gym and all the classes are dressing in different colors. Our color is GREEN!! Please send your child in GREEN on Wednesday-thanks. If, after you receivee your child's progress report, you have concerns, feel free to reach out and we can schedule a conference if you'd like. Moving forward, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for school, including jackets, hats and mittens, and if your child starts wearing boots, please change out of them in the hall and leave them under the bench-thanks! Enjoy the rest of your rainy Sunday and have a great week! Happy Thanksgiving to all! Robin
Sunday November 12th-good morning-brrrrr! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend-I know I did. So, the turkey activities will begin this week! The morning class will be practicing colors and some independent work with a color turkey project and will also be doing some color matching with silly colorful turkeys. Tomorrow is "H Day" for the afternoon class. And we will also begin practicing making the number 4. All of the letters and numbers we've been working on so far all have started on the left with a "big line" straight down. Now we'll explore letters and numbers that have lines down in the mmiddle. Wednesday is "I Day". I is for indian corn! That will be a fun project. I hope you've all read the information about the evacuation drills scheduled for Thursday. In the morning we're going at 8:30 and it's apt to be quite cold. Please, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside. I will be grabbing coats as quickly as possible but will not be able to do hats or mittens. Make sure footwear is appropriate for a long walk. Thanks. We will also practice with the afternoon class at 12:00, with afternoon Kindergarten. When I talk to the children about an evacuation drill, I usually talk about something smelly or spilled in the school that we need to get away from. I DO NOT talk about intruders or anything scary like that. The kids usually see it as an adventure. Reminder: as the weather gets colder and we need to start wearing boots and/or snowsuits, the MORNING class will only go outside on THURSDAY and the AFTERNOON class will only go outside on TUESDAY!!! For now, we'll continue to try to squeeze in outside time whenever we can. Remnder: there is no AFTERNOON preschool on Wednesday Nov. 22nd, as it is an early release day for the whole school. There WILL BE morning preschool that day and there is NO SCHOOL for anyone on Friday the 24th. Mrs. Dana and I will be gone to a conference tomorrow and Tuesday- hopefully learning something!:)))) Mrs. Kearns will be there with Miss Lisa and Miss Katie,so everything should go on without a hitch! I can't wait to see everyone on Wednesday! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a great week! Robin
What have we been doing?Sunday November 5th-good morning! Did you remember to turn your clocks back? What a crazy week, with the storm and Halloween-it was lots of fun, but I'll be glad to get back to normal! Well, sort of. Tomorrow is picture re-take day-please let me know if you are planning on having your child's picture re-done. Not that it affects us in preschool, but there is no school on Friday, in honor of Veteran's Day. The morning class will be having lots of fun with squirrels and acorns this week. If you have any acorns in your yard, we would love to have them! Thanks in advance. Thursday is "Gray Day" in both classes-we'll all wear gray, and sing "Gray Squirrel, Gray Squirrel". Tomorrow is "R Day" ini the afternoon class. We'll also be talking about scarecrows and crows this week. Our scarecrow discussions will lead us into discussions about harvesting the crops and preparing for winter. Tuesday is Library day and also Outside day and Wednesday will be our whole group Social Thiking/Movement day. We'll continue to talk about "the group plan". This is great language to use at home as well! Grades will be closing this week, and I am hoping to have progress reports/graded IEP's out by the 16th--Monday the 20th at the latest. Again feel free to reach out if you'd like to schedule a conference. Enjoy the rest of your long Sunday and have a great week! Robin
