Good morning! We made it through the back to school, full moon, heat wave week--black fly bites to boot! This week is looking to be a nice one, but not quite so hot-that was a little too much to soon if you ask me!
We'll be busy with Mother's Day surprised this week and we wish Jewel a happy 5th birthday on Saturday!
The morning class has been having so much fun with ducks. We've read Eric Carle's "10 LIttle Rubber Ducks" and this week we'll be singing "5 Little Ducks" and practicing our 1 to 1 counting with the felt board as we sing. Check out our ducks on the bulletin board-they came out so cute!
We will be starting our Brigance screening in the afternoon class. All incoming Kindergartner's are screened. The results are used by the Kindergarten staff to drive their instruction in September, and also to see if there are students that might benefit from the summer session to get a "head start." If you have any questions about this, give me a call or shoot me an e-mail. Please understand that this is strictly for information gathering for the teachers, just like the questionnaire's they sent home. I've completed a few of the teacher questionnaires, so send yours in if you haven't already and I'll complete it and get it to the teachers.
I can't even believe we have 6 full weeks of school left before our "end of year" festivities. I am going to cautiously (fingers crossed that there are no more "weather events") say that BOTH the MORNING AND AFTERNOON end of year "shows" will be on WEDNESDAY JUNE 20TH! Obviously, if we end up with more days (God forbid!) that could change. Morning preschool will still be in session on Thursday the 21st for those who choose to attend. Afternoon preschool will be done on Wednesday the 20th for the year!
I don't have exact times yet, but expect the morning celebration to be approximately 1 hour, and the afternoon celebration will most likely be from 12-2. We have a family barbecue, then the children's performance, and then a slideshow.
Now that the weather is nicer, we will be trying to squeeze in as much outside time as possible. Please be sure your child is prepared to go outside (appropriate footwear sunscreen, bug spray, etc.) on any given day-thanks.
I'm off to plant some pansies before it rains! Enjoy your Sunday and I"m looking forward to a great week!
Robin
